Choose a First Class private sleeping room onboard the train
If your journey involves overnight travel on the train, you may wish to upgrade to a First Class Roomette or Bedroom in an Amtrak Sleeping Car for the optimal onboard experience. Simply indicate which option when booking.

Overnight Rail Holidays
Located in the Sleeping Car, a private room is the perfect option for travellers seeking privacy and space on a short trip and added comfort and amenities when travelling overnight. When you book travel in a sleeping car, you are entitled to a range of features, amenities and extras to ensure a smooth and relaxing journey. When it comes to deciding between a roomette and a bedroom, our presentation will detail everything you need to know to make the right choice for you!

When compared to cars and aeroplanes, trains emit between 66% and 75% less carbon. Trains are far more sustainable In terms of energy consumption, use of space, and noise levels.
Amtrak, the American national rail operator has made a clear commitment to sustainability over the past decade.
According to the 2021 U.S. Department of Energy Data Book, Amtrak is 46% more energy-efficient than travelling by car and 34% more energy-efficient than domestic air travel. Amtrak has significantly reduced its carbon footprint by taking measures to reduce fuel consumption, such as installing new forms of green technology and adapting energy-conserving practices. According to Climate Counts, a nonprofit organization that grades companies according to their environmental practices, Amtrak is a “Striding” company. The Coast Starlight provides a link between the popular cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle.
